The Arch of Septimius Severus still stands (A.D. 203) commemorating the "African-born emperor's battles in Mesopotamia." See reliefs underneath the columns of "soldiers marching captured barbarians back to Rome for the victory parade." Can't believe it still stands six(6) stories tall…! If you are near the Arch of Septimius Serverus, feeling the beaming heat... thank goodness for a water fountain located near by.
