Jet skiing Lake Mohave (Arizona & Nevada)

How do we enjoy the outdoors with the high of 104°F here? We are up & at em at 5:30am. Get to Lake Mohave by 7:00am. Although, in hindsight, sunrise’s at 5:23am so, that would be the optimal time to arrive at the lake in order to beat: (1) any weekday crowd, if any (2) the heat (3) the winds.

The average water temperature in June = 72°F / July = 80°F / August = 84°F. Some think that’s too warm to enjoy the water but it’s perfect for me. I guess I suffer slightly from Frigophobia – a fear of becoming too cold. I’m not the type that jumps into a swimming pool. Am I the only one?

Lake Mohave History

“Lake Mohave is a reservoir on the Colorado River created in 1951 following the completion of Davis Dam near present-day Laughlin, Nevada, and Bullhead City, Arizona. Named for the Mohave Indians who previously inhabited this region of the Colorado River valley, Lake Mohave extends approximately 67 miles along the valley from Hoover Dam to Davis Dam straddling the southern Nevada and northwestern Arizona border, which follows the original river channel.”

"Three marinas with launch ramps are located on Lake Mohave, two in Arizona (Willow Beach and Katherine Landing) and one in Nevada (Cottonwood Cove). An additional launch ramp is located at Princess Cove on the Arizona side near Katherine Landing." –

I saw a number of families enjoying their houseboat on the lake. It’d be so cool to rent one. Imagine being on a 70′ Houseboat with an upper deck whirlpool spa and iconic upper deck water slide.. that sleeps 12 with 2 bathrooms in peak season for ~$4,725/3 days (~$400/per person). What a family reunion that would be?! Of course, there are smaller houseboats to rent, too. Will keep bookmarked, for sure.

  • Shape Flexer Sun Hat

Recently, purchased the Shape Flexer Sun Hat for the both of us to use on hikes and while jet skiing. Love the wide stiff brim, chin tie and the neck cape to keep us cool and protected from the sun.

  • Chillbo SHWAGGINS Blow-Up Couch and Inflatable Lounger

For land and sea, our colorful Chillbo SCHWAGGINS inflatable lounger, we’ve taken to the beach (i.e. Playa Flamingo, Costa Rica) and on this lake so far. It’s a lot more comfortable with two sitting in them because you don’t need to gulp in as much air to inflate them. Honestly, still getting used to the swooping in air technique. But, once inflated… love the lounging!
