According to VisitSequoia.com, "Roaring River Falls, located just off Highway180 deep inside Kings Canyon valley... Dropping 40 feet through a narrow granite gap, the falls' rushing waters foam, froth and churn with dramatic effect."
As we were already exploring some of the legendary trees inside King’s Canyon, we made the time to visit both Grizzly Falls and Roaring River Falls. Another short hike at only 0.3 mi (out & back) with a nice reward.
You can’t tell from the pictures, but on this May day the mist was strong.
Don’t forget to check out the view down stream.

It’s about an hour’s drive from the General Grant Tree to get here but it was worth the road trip as long as you enjoy a few other stops along the way:
- Photo Ops along the South Fork Kings River
- Picnic at Grizzly Falls
- Kings Canyon National Park Sign (see below)
