Pillbox (a.k.a, Ka’iwa Ridge Trail) is considered an easy hike and is located in Lanikai, Oahu. I would say it's easy because it's only a 0.7mi. trail but with an intermediate start and return where the trail is the most steep. There are a few parking spots on the street in front of Mid Pacific County Club. Walk up the road and you'll see it stems off from Kaelepulu Dr. to find the trailhead.
Use the ropes in the beginning or end of your hike to keep your footing.
Not a lot of shade but nice and breezy.
Scenery of kayakers paddling their way to Moku Nui Island which gives them panoramic views of Lanikai and Kailua.
Bill hikes ahead to scout out the views.
We both take a "stop and smell the roses" break. Personally, I don't walk/jog/hike for the sake of exercise alone... there has to be a fantastic view, the isolation/peace of the trail, maybe a waterfall, for the exploration... how about you?
We make it to the cement bunkers used in World War II to keep an eye on the coast. What a perfect location for that job!
