Sequoia National Park - Tunnel Log

QUESTION: If you only had one day at Kings Canyon & Sequoia National Park, what would you do or see?

Early morning start at Sequoia National Park and on our way to check out the Tunnel Log.

By 8:15am, we spotted this down tree with its roots exposed. Amazing! We couldn’t just pass by without a closer look.

History of the Tunnel Log

"Soon after the Moro Rock / Crescent Meadow Road was completed, a giant sequoia fell, blocking the roadway. The tree was too large to move, so workers carved a tunnel through it. Since 1935, people have been driving through Tunnel Log. The tunnel is 17 feet wide and 8 feet high (5.2 meters by 2.4 meters). There is a bypass for taller vehicles." – NPS.gov

We also join in… to some… a cheesy, novelty tourist attraction of driving through a fallen Sequoia. How about you?
