While staying at the Hotel Al Forte, in Arraba, we went on our 3rd of 4th via ferrata adventures while visiting the Dolomites. It was only about 25 miles from the hotel and an hour drive through the winding mountains to start this hike. We actually had no idea where the trail started when we arrived at the parking area. We asked others who also had their via ferrata equipment with them.
The appeal here was that:
We had read about professional guides that could take us here, but we like to do things on our own... especially on the 'easy' ones. Hey, we saved €90,00/pp ($100/ea.), too!
Passing Hotel Al Sasso di Stria... continuing on SR48... where we had a glimpse of a cute church.
Tunnel along the Passo Falzarego
(Google Map) Here we've already found our parking spot and walked towards the beginning of the trail. You can see the entrance to the parking - the SS51 (Strada Statale 51 di Almagna) ahead.
Simply, walk around the gate. You'll see signs to point you towards Valle di Fanes #10
We continue to follow Trail #10
Love these surroundings! And there's even picnic spots.
An excuse to take a breather with photo ops.
When you see this area, you know you're close to the start of the via ferrata trail
Before starting the via ferrata to descend down towards the falls, we enjoy the views.
Love how there's always free water refills around.
Only a few steps now back to our parking spot.
