Hotel Hopping: The All Inclusive Occidental Tamarindo
Having a nice long visit to Costa Rica (May 4 – 25), we kept our reservations flexible through Booking.com. We went to check out another choice of accommodations away from the hustle and bustle of the center of Tamarindo… arriving at the All Inclusive Occidental Tamarindo.
We asked reception if we could check out the property and room choices. They had to get permission from management. While we waited, I snapped a few shots:
Beautiful decor in the Lobby area:
Nice pool but no swim up bar like they have at Best Western Tamarindo:
Eventually, we were escorted around. Although I didn’t get shots of the rooms themselves nor the garden of eden feel as we walked through the property, here are a few shots to remember the hotel by:
Encompassing an area of roughly 445 hectares of mangrove swamps and coastline, the Marino las Baulas National Park is made up of the four beaches: Playa Grande, Playa Langosta, Playa Ventanas and Playa Carbon. Across the way, is Sector Playa Langosta which offers a nice stretch of sand… especially, beautiful for sunsets.
Verdict: We decided *Not * to stay here: (#1) as it wasn’t very surfer friendly… meaning, they didn’t really have a convenient way to store the surfboards we had rented. (#2) Plus, we’d always have to drive to surf. Our vacation style would lean more on the active. (#3) We’re not extreme foodies, but we wouldn’t want to miss must-have Costa Rican staples or eat / drink like a local. Being committed to breakfast, lunch and dinner really you’d feel obligated to get your money’s worth at the hotel. This all-inclusive stay would be great for anyone who loves sunbathing poolside and/or loves the quiet. If that’s you, check this place out, for sure!
