Imagine your apartments right smack against a limestone cliff! This community was built about 800 years ago… talk about ingenuity for a desert backdrop! This morning, we’re in Camp Verde, AZ visiting the Montezuma Castle National Monument before going up to Williams, AZ where we look forward to Bearizona.
We turned to page 278 of "Guide to Scenic Highways & Byways" by National Geographic which talked about how “Sand laid down about 300 million years ago became sandstone, tinted red by the presence of iron, then shaped by water and wind…” to what you see today. It’s only a short but sweet 7.5 mile scenic drive (Exit 298 to Hwy 179) of Red Rock country. We make an afternoon of it.
RV Day #9: Time to move from Capri RV Resort to Quail Ridge RV Park. We jumped on I-8E and have a 3-4 hour drive. With colder weather approaching, we had researched a good location to stay that wouldn’t have temperatures below freezing and would allow us to explore somewhat North Arizona with the Mini Cooper – Red Rocks of Sedona, Bearizona, Montezuma Castle, and the Grand Canyon.
RV Day #8: Time to move from Mission Bay RV Park to Capri RV Resort. We jump on Hwy 8 East where we say goodbye to California and hello Arizona! It’s only an overnight pitstop to rest before another drive from Yuma, AZ to Mayer, AZ. Here we go to RV Park #2 where we see the Mexican Border, pass through the small town of Jacumba and the Imperial Sand Dunes.
