Things to Do: Beginner Hang Gliding Lessons on the Sand Dunes of Jockey’s Ridge State Park (Nags Head, NC)

September 27, 2014 |

328th day RVing and we’re in and around the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Researching things to do in the area, hang gliding lessons was listed. Felt Wright at home with this adventure where “The Wright brothers… generally credited with inventing, building, and flying the world’s first successful airplane.” Quite honestly, learning hang gliding seems equal to the perspective of a paper airplane or how it feel to actually be the kite. LOL. Overall, if we had more time in the area, I would have signed up for their week long Hang 1 Camp but their 5 flights package was really fun. Read More

First Time: Whitewater Rafting on the Pigeon River (Hartford, Tennessee)

September 16, 2014 | 1

Call us adrenaline junkies. Adventure tourism is our style of travel since we’re always on the lookout for activities that involve an element of risk. Cajun Country Swamp Tours (Breaux Bridge, Louisiana)

December 27, 2013 |

The Cajun Country Swamp Tour is ranked #1 in Things to Do in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. It’s winter and since alligators are cold-blooded, we don’t expect them sight any during the tour. They’re all hibernating by now in their dens without any food all winter. But we are looking forward to learning about Cajun Island / Lake Martin Swamp, cypress trees, the bayou and take in a little biding! Read More

Going Deep Underground (Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico)

November 27, 2013 | 2

Having visited Colossal Cave and a recent visit to Kartchner Caverns (both caves in Arizona), we were told Carlsbad Caverns is a must-see if we would be in New Mexico. Imagine a cavern over 1,000 feet deep, currently has about 30 miles of mapped passages and 119 known caves. Sold! It’s a natural wonder we have to witness for ourselves. (Illustration by: Julia Kuo)

First Time: Snowball Fight (White Sands National Monument, New Mexico)

November 25, 2013 | 4

You may recognize White Sands in the Movies – Young Guns II, Transformers, Transformers 2, Mad Love and Book of Eli (… the movies I’ve seen). We couldn’t pass through New Mexico without this pitstop only an hour from our RV Park.

Day 22 RVing: We’ve been driving 5 hours from Tucson to Las Cruces. We needed a much needed fun break. Read More

First Time: Spelunking at Colossal Cave Mountain Park (Vail, AZ)

November 22, 2013 | 3

Right next door to Tucson, Arizona adventure awaits in Vail! It took some convincing as Bill had some anxiety about caving since I was looking into a “Wild Cave Tour – Advanced (3-5 hours).” You’re warned that “Participants must be physically fit, agile, and able to scale obstacles.” Read More
