Port Excursion: Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens (Soufriere Estate, St. Lucia)

April 13, 2018 |

Last time in St Lucia we went with Spencer Ambrose Tours for a challenging 4-mile roundtrip hike up 2,619 feet above sea level on the iconic Gros Piton. This time around we wanted to chill. So, we decided to try Carnival Sailing and participate in their Full Day Land & Sea Adventure. It allowed us to admire the beautiful mountain scenery from a catamaran on the way to Soufriere Harbor to visit Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens to see the 17-meter/56-feet falls that tumble down the mountain from the volcano; get down and dirty at the La Soufrière Drive In Volcano for a mud scrub and soak; lunch at Fond Doux Plantation Resort; check out Marigot Bay; then, finish off the tour snorkeling. Where in the World Can You Hold a Sloth? (Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Honduras)

March 14, 2014 | 5

We arranged this port excursion outside of Carnival Conquest – Caribbean Cruise. It was very affordable to enjoy the day in Roatan from the scenic drive West and East through villages to visiting the wildlife sanctuaries and getting up close and personal… in this case… a Sloth. We didn’t know what to expect from visits to these wildlife sanctuaries and so we were very delighted to see and hold a Sloth… although, I don’t know if it’s a guaranteed experience by the tour vendor. This particular sloth was more social and had a good temperament for visitors. We were told usually they’re up in the trees so it was a great treat! Read More

Universal Studios and Islands of Adventures (Orlando, Florida)

January 17, 2014 |

A big movie fan, I’ve always loved visits to Universal Studios Hollywood, so Universal Studios Orlando was on our theme park bucket list. We’ve seen commercials about Despicable Me Minion Mayhem to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (over at Islands of Adventure) and looked forward to an entertaining few days here in Orlando.
