Where in the World Can You Hold a Sloth? (Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Honduras)
March 14, 2014 | JWadmin 4We arranged this port excursion outside of Carnival Conquest – Caribbean Cruise. It was very affordable to enjoy the day in Roatan from the scenic drive West and East through villages to visiting the wildlife sanctuaries and getting up close and personal… in this case… a Sloth. We didn’t know what to expect from visits to these wildlife sanctuaries and so we were very delighted to see and hold a Sloth… although, I don’t know if it’s a guaranteed experience by the tour vendor. This particular sloth was more social and had a good temperament for visitors. We were told usually they’re up in the trees so it was a great treat! Read More

Jet Ski Stingray City Tour (Grand Cayman Islands)

Fishing – Pelican’t have the Baby Hammerhead Shark I Caught (Naples Pier, Florida)
February 18, 2014 | JWadmin 2We learned that fishing from Naples Pier does not require a fishing license. The only big challenge is finding parking in the winter season as many snowbirds or weather escapees from the north flock to Florida, therefore making parking a premium.

Safari and Behind the Scenes at Giraffe Ranch (Dade City, Florida)
January 25, 2014 | JWadmin 3We ♥ animals. I’ve never met a giraffe I didn’t like so why not visit a place called Giraffe Ranch. We made a reservation for a Safari Vehicle Tour with the expectation to “take part in real hands-on interactions with many species that feed from the vehicle.” Sounds like a grand ol’ time!! Best of all was paying extra for a Behind-the-Scenes Tour. Check out why…

Snorkeling with Manatees – Three Sisters Springs (Crystal River, Florida)
January 21, 2014 | JWadmin 2We headed to Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge. Seeing manatees while snorkeling beside them has been on my bucket list since the beginning of our RV planning. It’s finally here! Inspiration to swim with the manatees came from several sources: Roadtrippers, National Geographic’s story – "When Push Comes to Shove" to the mention in our 1,000 Places to See Before You Die book.
